In his 30 years as a consultant and trainer he has provided leadership development training to individuals and trainers from North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.

A guru he is not. In fact, Mitchell Alegre bristles if anyone refers to him as an expert, even though he has been an award-winning consultant and trainer since 1974. He doesn’t even claim to know anything. “To say you know something,” says Mitch, “is to lock yourself into the past. We can only know what is and has been. When you think you know something, you close yourself to learning and growth. I learn along with my clients as we explore new possibilities together.”

Mitch has worked with business people, healthcare professionals, human service providers, educators, clergy, and others. He is president of his own consulting company and is founder and director of the Center For Transforming Leadership.

Mitch is a Managing Distributor for Inscape Publishing and a Certified Achieveglobal Facilitator. He has served as a Senior Consultant for the Healthcare Careers Center of the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, as Training Associate for the University's Institute For Work/Family Balance, and as an adjunct faculty member for other colleges in Western New York.

Mitch abhors what he calls the seagull approach to consulting. “That's when,” he explains, “some guy from the outside flies in, drops his clams, and flies off. Everyone left behind then has to clean up the mess left behind.” Mitch’s approach is to help clients discover their own answers. “I don’t live the consequences of my clients’ actions,” says Mitch. “It is irresponsible for me to tell people what they should do and then leave them to their fate while I go off to mess up another organization. Those who live the consequences need to make the decisions."

Mitch has authored numerous articles and two books and has received several national awards. He has been a recipient of the Trainer Of The Year Award from the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the American Society For Training And Development. He was the first to receive the Leadership Award presented by the Buffalo Chapter of the International Management Network and was similarly honored by the Buffalo Chapter of the International Management Council. The Institute Of Training Consultants has awarded him the designation of Certified Training Consultant. He has also been honored with inclusion in Who’s Who in the East.

“Being recognized for my work is satisfying,” admits Mitch, “but what counts to each client is what I can do for them.” That is why he customizes his approach to the specific needs of each client. “I am not pushing a particular philosophy, program, or product. I partner with my clients to discover new possibilities.”
